The meditative art of hand sewing, or “slow stitching,” gives us a chance to relax and enjoy the rhythmic dance of needle and thread.
In this session we’ll draw inspiration from the Japanese traditional craft of “omiyage,” darling and whimsical gifts crafted from scraps of beautiful fabric, to construct an elegant little beetle with a secret space under its wings for storing needles, earrings, pins, or whatever other precious small things you wish to protect!
We’ll be using new and vintage fabrics, basic piecing methods, embroidery stitches, and simple shapes. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, a treat or two, and the company of like-minded souls.
All materials are included in workshop fee. Students may bring a small sewing kit if desired.
Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee, tea, water and light snacks will be served.
COVID-19 Precautions: This class is limited to 6 participants. Appropriate precautions will be observed depending on official guidance at the time.
